This is one of the most important parts to dog grooming and is one of the first actions we make when we go to groom a dog, that and the ears. It is also one of the first things we teach our students at entry level; most people should already know how to clip pet nails, especially if they own a dog or a cat themselves because it is something you should do regularly in-between salon visits to keep your pet healthy and happy.
If you don't know how to clip your dogs nails properly and safely then don't worry because this video will teach you how.
It is extremely important to clip your dog nails at least once a month because they grow very quickly and unlike human nails the skin underneath dog nails, known as the quick, will grow simultaneously with the nail - so the longer they get the harder it is to clip the nails without hurting the dog.
Also, because of this, it is natural that there will be a little bit of blood when you clip dogs nails but don't worry, it isn't painful and Laura has some tips to help prevent bleeding.
Just remember, the more often the nails get clipped the more comfortable it is for your dog.
